Getting from Jeju International Airport to Seogwipo is one of the first practical decisions manyvisitors face. The best option depends on your hotel location, luggage, arrival time and whether you plan to rent a car. For most first-time travelers, the three realistic choices are the airport limousine bus, taxi or rental car.
Quick answer
- Best value: Airport Limousine Bus 600
- Best with heavy luggage or late arrival: Taxi
- Best if you plan to explore rural Jeju immediately: Rental car
If your hotel is in Jungmun or central Seogwipo and you do not need a car on arrival day, Bus 600 is usually the simplest public-transport option.
Option 1: Airport Limousine Bus 600
Jeju International Airport officially lists Limousine Bus 600 as a direct airport-to-Jungmun-to-Seogwipo route. The airport bus stop is located in front of Gate 5. The route passes through major Jungmun resort hotels, Jeju International Convention Center, Jeju World Cup Stadium, Seogwipo Harbor and continues toward Seogwipo KAL Hotel.
The official airport information currently shows service from the airport to Seogwipo with departures beginning in the morning and continuing until late evening, with intervals that vary by time of day. Because schedules can change, confirm the same-day timetable on the Jeju Bus Information System or airport website before traveling.
Who should use Bus 600?
- Travelers staying in Jungmun
- Visitors staying near major hotels along the route
- Solo travelers and couples who want to save money
- Travelers with manageable luggage
- Anyone who does not want to drive immediately after a flight
Who may prefer another option?
If your accommodation is far from a Bus 600 stop, you may still need a local bus or taxi after getting off. Families with several suitcases, groups of three or four people, and travelers arriving very late may find a taxi more convenient.
Option 2: Taxi from Jeju Airport to Seogwipo
A taxi is the easiest door-to-door option. It removes the need to understand bus stops, transfer with luggage or walk from a main road to your accommodation. The downside is cost, especially for solo travelers.
Travel time depends heavily on your exact destination and traffic. Jungmun is closer to the airport than central or eastern Seogwipo, so do not rely on a single generic “airport to Seogwipo” time estimate. Search your hotel in a Korean navigation app before departure and check the route at the time you travel.
Taxi tips for foreign visitors
- Save your hotel name and address in Korean.
- Show the destination on Naver Map or KakaoMap.
- Confirm that the hotel branch is correct if the brand has multiple locations.
- At peak arrival times, allow for a taxi queue.
Option 3: Rental car
If your trip is built around rural attractions, beaches, oreum and multiple stops each day, picking up a rental car after landing can make sense. Most rental companies operate shuttle buses from the airport area to nearby rental branches rather than handing over cars directly at the terminal.
Do not schedule a major attraction immediately after landing. Between baggage claim, rental shuttle, paperwork, vehicle inspection and navigation setup, the process can take longer than expected. A realistic first day is often airport pickup, hotel check-in and one nearby stop.
Foreign visitors should read our Jeju Car Rental Guide for Foreigners before booking.
Jungmun vs central Seogwipo
“Seogwipo” covers a large area. Jungmun Tourist Complex is west of central Seogwipo and is served particularly well by Bus 600 because the route stops at several major hotels and attractions there. Central Seogwipo is farther along the route, closer to places such as Seogwipo Harbor, Maeil Olle Market and the city center.
Before choosing transport, check whether your accommodation is actually in Jungmun, central Seogwipo, Seongsan, Namwon or another part of Seogwipo-si. A hotel can use “Seogwipo” in its address while being far from central Seogwipo.
What if you arrive late?
If your flight lands near the end of the bus operating day, do not assume you will make the final limousine. Delays, baggage collection and walking to the bus stop can take time. Check the final departure before boarding your flight, and keep a taxi as your backup plan.
What if you are staying in Seongsan?
Seongsan is on the eastern side of Jeju and is not the same destination as central Seogwipo. Bus 600 is designed for Jungmun and Seogwipo, so travelers heading to Seongsan should plan a different bus route, taxi or rental car. This distinction matters because crossing southern Jeju after a long flight can add a significant amount of travel time.
Which option is best?
Choose Bus 600 if you want the best balance of price and convenience and your hotel is close to the route. Choose a taxi if you prioritize door-to-door convenience, have several bags, are traveling with children or arrive late. Choose a rental car if driving is central to your whole Jeju itinerary and you are comfortable starting immediately after arrival.
