Travelers moving between Incheon Airport and Seoul late during the 2026 Chuseok holiday have two useful nights to remember: September 26 and 27. Airport Railroad (AREX) has announced that its late-night last trains will run farther than usual on those two nights, extending one airport-to-city train to Seoul Station and one city-to-airport train all the way to Incheon Airport Terminal 2.
Airport Terminal 2 to Seoul Station: 23:50 departure
AREX says the 23:50 train from Incheon Airport Terminal 2, which normally ends at Digital Media City, will continue to Seoul Station on September 26 and 27. It is scheduled to arrive at Seoul Station at 00:57 the following day.
This can be valuable for travelers whose flight lands late, but remember that immigration, baggage claim and terminal walking time can easily take an hour or more. Do not plan around the 23:50 departure unless your flight schedule gives you a realistic margin.
Seoul Station to Terminal 2: midnight departure
The 00:00 train from Seoul Station, which normally ends at Geomam, will be extended to Incheon Airport Terminal 2 on those two nights. AREX says the train will arrive at Terminal 2 at 01:07.
This is most useful for very early flights, airport workers or travelers moving to an airport hotel. If your flight departs in the morning, compare this option with simply staying near the airport; arriving around 1 a.m. can still mean a long wait before airline counters open.
The extension applies only on September 26–27
Do not assume the later service runs throughout the entire Chuseok period. AREX’s official release specifically names September 26 and 27. For September 24–25 or other dates, check the normal timetable and any separate holiday notice.
Connections after midnight are the real planning issue
AREX also notes that Seoul Metro, Line 9 and Incheon Transit are extending some holiday operations, which may improve late-night transfers. However, one operator’s extended train does not guarantee that your final subway or local bus connection will still be running. Check the exact last train from Seoul Station or your transfer station to your hotel.
What international travelers should do
- Save the Terminal 1/Terminal 2 distinction before landing.
- Check real-time AREX information after clearing immigration.
- If you miss the extended train, know your backup: airport bus, taxi or airport-area hotel.
- Do not buy a complicated city transfer plan that depends on a one- or two-minute midnight connection.
How this differs from KTX/SRT changes
This is an airport-rail holiday operation, not a KTX or intercity-rail booking change. If you are traveling elsewhere in Korea, our Korail+ App 2026 guide explains the integrated high-speed rail booking environment. For airport travel, rely on AREX and the airport’s own live transport information.
FAQ
Does the 23:50 train leave Terminal 1 or Terminal 2?
The official AREX announcement specifies Incheon Airport Terminal 2 as the 23:50 origin. Travelers using Terminal 1 should check the intermediate departure time rather than assuming 23:50 applies there.
Will the Seoul Station train reach both airport terminals?
The extended 00:00 service is announced through to Terminal 2, so it passes the airport railway corridor serving Terminal 1 before reaching its final stop. Confirm the timetable on the day for exact station times.
Is the extension every night during Chuseok?
No. The announcement applies to September 26 and 27, 2026.
What if my plane lands at 22:50?
You may or may not make the 23:50 departure depending on terminal, immigration queues and baggage. Build a backup plan instead of assuming one hour is sufficient.
